REALISTIC PLANNING FOR THESE TIMES

“RAINBOWS ONLY FOLLOW STORMS. YOU CANNOT HAVE A RAINBOW, WITHOUT A STORM FIRST.”

REALISTIC Planning FOR these TIMES
If ever there was a time in history that mandated the development of a practical Implementation and Execution Plan… that times now! Even if you have not already outlined a plan for how you intend to wrestle your way through this current economic firestorm, then Business Survival Planning is where you need to start!  Strategic Planning will always be a requirement, however, in this climate, for many it is functionally obsolete.  New business realities prove that an experiential, highly interactive, hands on and process driven workshop where owners draft their plan and walk out with a map for what they must do immediately, that has been hammered out by themselves works. This transcends training and builds confidence through execution that is quantifiably measurable, earning respect by everyone connected with the owner.  That strategy must focus on Business Survival Planning and include an effective Implementation and Execution Plan to make that happen. That combination is a proven strategy that doubles your chance for survival. Nothing else comes even close.
“An idiot with a plan has a better chance for success than a genius without one”
                       T. Boone Pickens

Do business survival planning and your chances improve overnight so does your confidence. We have a new reality, best dealt with through displaying your intensity of focus, ruthless prioritization and relentless pursuit in first implementing and then executing your plan. When you have to talk with Bankers, Investors, Suppliers, Prospects, Customers, Family or Competition then quote your own plan, it is significantly important. What will determine your ability to survive in this climate of uncertainty; will be by how you handle those awkward conversations that keep emphasis on the pursuit of your priorities. We have seen a person with a simple plan, they are committed to, get funding while others without one are ignored.

Think about the impression the Funding source has when they see you with a “failure is not an option” mindset! Keep open to utilizing professionals who present and facilitate, they stimulate the thinking and open up your mind. Remember Dentist do not repair their own teeth, they find another professional, someone who can be emotionally neutral and who has a mastery of the process. Keep this in the forefront of your decision-making, what does it costs to get a professional, who remains objective and what could it cost if you do not. This is no time to choke down, for some, what may be the last effort if it must work get the best, even if you cannot afford to, even if you have to borrow or barter, make it happen, then make the plan work!

Embrace the Tiger, a mindset for leaders in a climate of uncertainty

The diaries written in the world economy today filled with twists and turns it seems is keeping everyone off balance. Small business owners, the source for much of our recovery are spinning from the spike in costs of goods sold and distribution that is eating away at margins erratically. I personally liked it better when I was looking at the world news only for the next travel I wanted to make. Not turned upside down and creating havoc as we rely on so many other countries for our products goods and services. We want to see a plan that shows a path through the mess and someone at the helm that ensures the implementation and execution of the plan for success. When the seas are the stormiest, that is when the navigation needs to be the best. Right now success is in a different place that is possible through engagement of every player playing every play. Vital conversations are required to be timely and specific from every person who represents management and leadership. If your people are doing well they need timely reinforcement and if not redirection. Success will most probably depend on the awkward conversations done well addressing head-on the requirements for every leader to inform, inspire, and require smarter ways for every person in every job to contribute. If someone is not performing act on that immediately, if someone is doing well do not miss the gift you can give to reinforce his or her best foot forward. In strong leadership, the difference is almost never vast and wide, it is small and narrow between doing well and exceptional. You Embrace the Tiger when you are bold and determine what it takes to identify how to make things happen, initiate a strategy then get buy in to make it work. Choose the right conversation and do not stop until the plan is working. We cannot do what we have to do with counting on people working harder and longer. Leaders have to bring out their peoples best by providing the environment that encourages, collaboration, corroboration and still allows individual efforts to rewards. Most people want to do well; I have never interviewed a candidate who told me up front I want to do a lousy job! Give me this job and in 90days I will have things so screwed up it will take you 6 months to recover. They usually start out to do well then will give their best if allowed. Strong leadership can ensure the best efforts if your people are properly matched for the position led by a strong leader. Remember only mediocre people are at their best all the time.
Embrace the Tiger How you can be certain in uncertain Times Change and how it’s handled is the biggest barrier to personal success and fulfillment. In fact, over 70 per cent of the people in our country do not know to make change work well in their lives. The procrastination that accompanies resistance to change can harm you irrevocably. It can even kill you. I am not saying what’s wrong with you, rather what do you need to learn to control change? During the terrible fires of 2003 in California, people were begged to leave their homes and rescue themselves. Many of these refuse to leave and stayed home to protect their material possessions. That decision cost some of them their lives. To have people evacuate their homes when hurricanes, floods, even tornadoes threaten is a struggle as well; they have to be forced to leave many times. Some die because they refuse to leave too. This phenomenon is caused by a principle that’s often overlooked and can be the determinant in survival and well being. Simply put, the fear of loss is greater than the love of gain. Las Vegas is another example of this principle. Most people who go to Vegas to gamble set a limit on what they are willing to lose. This means they are going there to keep from losing more than their limit, not to win. That isn’t gambling; it’s a controlled loss. And guess who wins in Vegas? The only constant that we know is change; do this well and you will prosper; do this poorly and you will decay. In this book, I share my secrets with you; secrets gleaned, even wrought, from experience; sometimes at a great cost and much suffering. Mine are discoveries that are presented through stories and examples, analogies and anecdotes, translated into principles within these pages. Mine are discoveries that will work for you ;show you how to overcome resistance to change and make changes a tool for you ; tool to harness the doubts that hold you back and allow you to the confidence needed to drive forward to the prosperity change mastery brings, both professionally and personally. This book will show you how to recognize and accept change and develop a personal strategy that allows you to meet the Tigers of change head-on, and embrace them with an understanding and a plan to make any change work for you; not against you.
